Prayer plant is a low, spreading plant that’s often grown in hanging baskets, but will also grow horizontally along a tabletop or other surface.
It’s a slow grower, so no matter where you have prayer plant, you don’t need to worry about it growing out of bounds.
This hardy indoor plant earned its common name from the fact that the leaves tend to fold together at night, like a pair of praying hands.
Most types of prayer plant have variegated foliage, adding to the plant’s overall interest.
This is a good houseplant to grow for its leaves.

Temperature : Prefers moderate weather. Lower temperatures can damage the leaves.
Light Preference : Prayer plants grow best with bright, indirect light from an east- or north-facing window. It also grows well under fluorescent light. Keep plant out of direct sun; strong sunlight will cause the leaves to fade.
Irrigation of Water: Keep soil evenly moist spring through summer, slightly drier in winter. Unlike most houseplants, it does not like to dry out before you water.
Humidity: A Prayer plant likes a very humid environment, and the humidity in ours homes is often too low. Increase the humidity by grouping plants together, putting a small humidifier or bowl of water near the plant, or setting a Prayer plant on a tray filled with water and small stones. Be sure the plant is sitting on the pebbles and not in the water. Brown leaf tips are a sign that the air is too dry.
Fertilization and feeding :A Prayer plant is an acid loving houseplant. Feed with a basic houseplant food , diluted to ½ the recommended strength every two weeks in the spring and summer. This acid loving plant will love your extra tea.
Flowering : Prayer plant does produce flowers, but they’re not large or particularly showy.
Soil: Prayer plants do best in a well-aerated, peat-rich Mix will be Preferred.
Pot Size : These plants have very shallow roots. Always plant a Prayer plant in shallow pots with drip holes in the bottom.
