This ornate Gold palm comes from the tropics and does require some light and moisture. But for that, it gives you tropical air in return.

Areca Palm is sometimes known as Dypsis lutescens or Areca lutescens, more common names include Butterfly Palm, Yellow Palm and Golden Cane.

Temperature :

Thrives in 18–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 12°C.

Lighting preference :

Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate light shade but avoid direct, harsh sunlight that can scorch the leaves.

 Irrigation of water :

Water when the top layer of soil feels dry. Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Reduce watering in winter.

 Humidity :

Loves higher humidity. Mist leaves regularly or place near a humidifier to prevent browning tips.

Fertilization and feeding :

Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Do not fertilize in winter.

 Flowering :

May produce small yellow flowers in clusters indoors, but it’s mainly admired for its lush foliage.

 Soil :

Prefers a rich, well-draining potting mix with peat and sand.

 Toxicity :

Non-toxic and safe for children and pets.

 Pot Size :

Best in large pots with drainage to support its height and spread. Repot every 2–3 years as it grows.

Pruning :

Remove yellow or brown fronds at the base to keep the plant looking fresh and healthy.

 Diseases :

Can be prone to spider mites and mealybugs if air is too dry. Overwatering may cause root rot.
