Temperature :
Thrives in 18–26°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 12°C.
Lighting preference :
Prefers bright, indirect light to keep its colorful green, pink, and cream-striped foliage. Can tolerate some shade, but avoid harsh direct sun.
Irrigation of water :
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Keep soil evenly moist but never soggy. Reduce watering in winter.
Humidity :
Enjoys moderate to high humidity. Mist leaves regularly or use a humidity tray to prevent browning tips.
Fertilization and feeding :
Feed every 4 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Do not fertilize in winter.
Flowering :
Rarely flowers indoors; mainly grown for its striking foliage.
Soil :
Use a well-draining, fertile mix with peat and perlite for aeration.
Toxicity :
Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, causing vomiting or drooling.
Pot Size :
Best in medium pots with good drainage. Repot every 2–3 years when roots crowd the container.
Pruning :
Remove any dead or yellowing leaves. Can trim stems to control height and encourage bushier growth.
Diseases :
May suffer from root rot if overwatered. Watch for spider mites, mealybugs, or scale.
