The Aglaonema is a beautiful plant. The ‘Maria’ has Glossy, dark green leaves patterned with silvery green chevrons..

Chinese Evergreen Maria has a retro-chic quality having been an interior design staple since the 1970’s.

It will tolerate more shade and cooler temperatures than other varieties, making it a useful, decorative addition across homes and offices.

Aglaonemas are tropical ground plants Classified under Araceae Family. They are native to the jungles of south-east Asia and thrive in warm, moist, partially shaded locations.

Classified by NASA as one of the top ten trees to clean the air of harmful toxins.

Maria is a slow grower with a compact habit. Ultimate height 40-50cm.

Temperature :

Best in 18–26°C. Protect from drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.

Lighting preference :

Grows well in medium to low indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.

 Irrigation of water :

Water when the top layer of soil (2–3 cm) feels dry. Keep soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Reduce watering in winter.

 Humidity :

Enjoys moderate to high humidity. Occasional misting helps keep leaves fresh.

Fertilization and feeding :

Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced fertilizer. Do not fertilize in winter.

 Flowering :

Rare indoors. Sometimes produces small white-green spathes, but mainly appreciated for its foliage.

 Soil :

Prefers a loose, well-draining mix with peat and perlite.

 Toxicity :

Toxic if ingested by pets or children.

 Pot Size :

Medium pots with drainage are ideal. Repot every 2 years or when roots outgrow the pot.

Pruning :

Remove yellow or older leaves at the base to keep the plant healthy and bushy.

 Diseases :

Prone to root rot if overwatered. May attract mealybugs or scale.
